The presidents of Portland State University and Portland Community College on Thursday will sign a reverse transfer agreement aimed at enhancing the job prospects of graduates.

The agreement will allow the schools to award associate's degrees to PCC students who have transferred to PSU. Students who didn't formally complete a degree via current standards but have fulfilled two-year degree program requirements will be eligible to receive an associate's degree.

The agreement is being funded by a two-year, $450,000 Lumina Foundation grant awarded in October to the Oregon Department of Community Colleges and Workforce Development and the Oregon University System.

The Lumina Foundation is a private, independent foundation based in Indianapolis that aims to expand access to and success in education beyond high school.

PSU President Wim Wiewel and PCC President Preston Pulliams will sign the agreement during a ceremony at 9:30 a.m. Thursday in the Rose Room of the Downtown Center, 722 S.W. 2nd. Ave.
