James W. Russell is an Adjunct Professor of Political Science. He has previously taught at San Francisco State University, Eastern Connecticut State University, and as a Senior Fulbright Lecturer and Researcher at the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México in Mexico City and Masaryk University in the Czech Republic. He is the author of eight books, including Social Insecurity: 401(k)s and the Retirement Crisis (Beacon Press), Double Standard: Social Policy in Europe and the United States (Rowman & Littlefield), Class and Race Formation in North America (University of Toronto Press), and Escape from Texas: A Novel of Slavery and the Texas War of Independence (Sloan Publishing). He has published widely in academic journals and regularly contributes articles to The Huffington Post and other press outlets.
