Director's Welcome

Named in honor of Oregon’s highly respected former Governor and U.S. Senator Mark Odom Hatfield, The Hatfield School of Government was established in 2001, as a multidisciplinary school dedicated to highest standards of scholarship. Public service, and social justice. Our faculty and research staff collaborate to educate and train future leaders, find solutions to challenging problems and improve our communities and environment. We achieve our mission through a range of teaching, research, and consulting activities that balance practice and theory. Students actively engage in a variety of hands-on public service projects throughout Oregon, the nation, and the world.

Locally renowned, the Hatfield School has also gained national prestige as one of the top 50 Public Affairs graduate programs in the nation. Whether starting or advancing a career in public service, the Hatfield School has undergraduate, graduate, Ph.D., certificate and continuing education programs that allow students the flexibility to tailor their education to pursue their passions.

The School's interdisciplinary graduate programs, disciplinary degrees, certificate, and continuing education programs provide plentiful options for students aspiring for careers in academia, public service or nonprofit management. I invite you to explore our school’s website and learn more about our people and programs.

Sincerely yours,

Birol A. Yeşilada
