Meet Professor John Rueter
Meet Professor John Rueter

Dr. John Rueter got his PhD from MIT in 1979 and moved directly to become an assistant professor in Biology at PSU. Later he became a member of the Environmental Science and Management Department.  During his time at PSU Dr. Rueter has served as the chair of ESM and was the director for the School of the Environment.

His research focused on the physiological ecology of algae in the oceans and lakes. Most recently he has been studying cyanobacterial blooms in Upper Klamath Lake focusing on factors that may help control these blooms over short time scales while larger lake restoration projects are implemented.

Dr. Rueter will be retiring from PSU in December 2017 and putting his attention on other projects.
