Graduate - Identify an Advisor

The relationship of advisor to student is key to student success and satisfaction in any graduate program. Every student admitted to the Geography Master’s Program is accepted by a tenure-track faculty advisor based on compatibility of interests and objectives, and the advisor’s willingness to take on a new student. The decision rests with the prospective faculty advisor, and students are strongly encouraged to identify potential faculty members, initiate a conversation with them, and explore the possibilities for working together, early in the application process. Begin the search for a prospective advisor (tenure-track faculty) with the faculty profiles and webpages. Consult the student page to see examples of student/advisor collaborations. Follow up with email or a phone call to faculty who seem to be the best match for your interests.
