Kareem is a Revenue Agent and Financial Coach in the Student Financial Services Financial Wellness Center.

Megan Looney is the Assistant Director for Student Financial Services. She manages day-to-day operations in the Cashier’s, Student Accounts and Collections offices to promote financial wellness among students.

Shawna is a Student Financial Services manager and oversees the Financial Wellness Center.

Amanda Nguyen is the Director of Student Financial Services and the Financial Wellness Center.

Mary chose PSU because it came highly recommended by her contacts at Clatsop Community College who are PSU alumni. She visited the campus and fell in love, and knew it was a good fit for her.

Mercer, who is 59 and a Portland native, has been a fixture on campus since the mid-70s, when he began his bachelor’s degree in history. Later, he earned a master’s in English and has worked in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences since 1992.

Marta ’90 and Ken Thrasher endorse Portland State’s mission of access. They recognize the power of education to advance lives and demonstrate their commitment with generous gifts to scholarships.

Duncan Campbell founded four children's organizations—Youth Resources providing funding for individual children to experience personal growth such as music or dance lessons or a trip to the beach; the Children's Institute promoting investments in early childhood programs; the Children's Course, a Gladstone golf course for at-risk children and their families; and most notably, Friends of the Children.

John Salmon (’67 MA ’72) and Marcia Schulmerich (class of ’69), are leading examples of alumni who are committed to scholarships. They graduated from PSU with biology degrees and built accomplished careers in health care administration. Along the way, this husband and wife team began giving back to PSU by providing scholarships for biology students.

Meet Marvin Daniel Alvilez, an Accounting and Supply & Logistics Major who anticipates graduating from the School of Business in Spring 2016.

Coming from hardworking, blue collar, supportive but poor families, the Yadens both received scholarships during their time at Portland State and remained integral to their future successes. This year two undergraduate students in the College of Urban & Public Affairs will be the first recipients of the Yaden family endowed scholarship; their goal for this endowment is to help students from similar backgrounds. “It makes me really happy to think that someone like me whose father had maybe finished 8th Grade could get a university degree with a little financial help.” Janice says.
