See the orginal story in the Portland Tribune.

Its not uncommon for active Portland neighborhoods to organize events to recycle and share unloved and unwanted belongings.

Now one is being organized for downtown Portland, and by students at Portland State University.

On Friday, Aug. 1, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. PSU students in an Urban Studies Capstone Class will host a ReUse Fair and Community Share, in the university’s Urban Plaza. The plaza is located between 5th and 6th avenues south of Market Street.

Students in professor Barry Messer’s class, teaming with the SoMa EcoDistrict in the area, will use the project to study how to handle waste on a neighborhood scale. They are hoping that apartment dwellers in the nearby Cyan, Harrison and University Pointe buildings will participate, as well as office workers in the 200 Market Street (“Black Box”) and other nearby facilities.
