Research Seminar: Homelessness, Health & Aging with Dr. Margot Kushel, MD

Homelessness impacts health-care outcomes across the board, but even more so with vulnerable populations such as older adults.

Dr. Margot Kushel, MD, director of University of California San Francisco Center for Vulnerable Populations, will talk about her research on homelessness, health and aging 3:30 p.m. Thursday, May 30. The free seminar is sponsored by PSU Homelessness Research & Action Collaborative and OSHU-PSU School of Public Health. Kushel's research focuses on efforts to prevent and end homelessness and mitigate the effects of housing instability on health-care outcomes.

She has a particular interest in homelessness in older adults. She leads the National Institute of Health study that developed HOPE HOME (Health Outcomes in Populations Experiencing Homelessness in Older Middle agE), an ongoing longitudinal cohort study examining the causes and effects of homelessness on adults aged 50 and over in Oakland, CA.

The research lecture will be held at the Robertson Life Sciences Building, Room 2S060, 2730 SW Moody Ave. For more information contact homelessness@pdx.edu.
