Process Analysis Project

Portland State University recently adopted its 2016-2020 Strategic Plan that includes an initiative to evaluate and improve the efficiency of its systems and processes.

As an institution with over 29,000 students, 6,800 employees, and an all funds budget exceeding $500 million, PSU is a complex organization with many interconnected systems and processes that touch every member of the campus community. Kevin Reynolds, Vice President for Finance & Administration, has been charged with undertaking an evaluation of the university’s systems and processes, especially those that add costs, complexity, or other inefficiencies, and recommending changes. The mandate to improve university efficiency outlined in the strategic plan is expansive and inclusive of all of all the university’s operational divisions. In order to engage a broad range of campus stakeholders in defining and prioritizing improvement, Vice President Reynolds has formed the Process Analysis and Improvement Plan Project to build a dynamic process improvement plan.
