What are the University obligations and options if I can return to work, but am unable to perform all of the duties assigned to my position?

If the Physician's Certification states that an employee cannot perform all of the duties of the job when released to return to work, the University may or may not be able to return you to your job. If the maximum leave time allowed under the Family Medical Leave has not been exhausted, you are entitled to the maximum leave. If you are still unable to return to the job due to restrictions by your physician, the University may consider a Personal Leave Without Pay(NONE) and/or you may be referred to the Affirmative Action/Employment Opportunity office for additional consideration.

Departments at the University that are able to return an employee who has been released to return to work with some restrictions should consult with the Office of Human Resources to assess how to proceed by contacting extension 54967.
