Can an employee take intermittent or reduced hour leave for a serious health condition?

Intermittent leave is available under the Oregon Family Leave Act. If a health care provider states in a Physician's Certification(BROKEN) that an employee needs to work intermittently or on a reduced hour schedule for a qualifying condition, employees may be allowed to reduce hours or use leave intermittently. An employee may request and be approved for intermittent or reduced hour leave to care for a new child, however, the employer is not required to grant intermittent or reduced hour schedules for leave to care for a new child. If granted, the leave must be taken within 12 months after the birth or placement for adoption or foster care. Contact the benefits staff at extension 53749 or 54943 for additional information on intermittent leave.
