Info Session: Spain - Capstone: Discovering Spain: A Sense of Place

Date: Thursday, October 17
Time: 2:00 - 2:50
Location: KMC 610C

  • 3 weeks travelling throughout Spain
  • 6 credits towards your Capstone (UNST) or 6 credits of Music

In this course, we will immerse ourselves in the culture and study the history of Spain using music as a lens whenever possible.  We’ll begin in the southern region of Andalusia, in the beautiful city of Seville, with visits to Cordoba and Granada to complete the week.

Heading north, we’ll stop in Madrid to explore the nation’s capital and its vibrant energy.  We’ll take a day trip to Toledo – the city described as “the soul of Spain”: a land where the Moors, Christians, and Jews lived together for hundreds of years, each practicing their faith and living in harmony.

After the big city, we move to the quiet northwest corner of Spain: Galicia. Week three we go east to Barcelona, rich in architecture by Gaudi, the unique language and culture of Catalonia and the Mediterranean sea.  Finally, we’ll travel north to the Basque Country, another region defined by its century-old fight for independence and a unique language and culture.
