Join PSU Anthropology for Archaeology First Thursday. Associate professor Shelby Anderson presents, "Arctic Forager Mobility and Information Exchange, Ca. 2500-Contact Era: A Study of Beringian Ceramic Technology."

Thursday, April 4 | 4 p.m.

Cramer Hall, Room 41

Many questions remain about ways that people expanded, contracted, and invested in Beringian social networks especially during the socially and environmentally dynamic mid-late Holocene period. Prior ceramic research established that ceramic technology was part of Beringian information exchange networks over the last 1,000 years, and that networks changed over time in relationship to shifting settlement patterns. New ceramic analysis is directed at understanding longer term patterns of cultural exchnage between northwest Alaskans and the broader Beringian region over the last 2,500 years.
