'Sista in the Brotherhood' and 'Mothering Inside': Film screenings and discussion

Join Women, Gender and Sexuality Studies, Black Studies, and Profile Theatre for an evening of two short films made by local filmmakers exploring race, class, and the effects of mass incarceration on the working class.

Sista in the Brotherhood is a moving story illustrating a tradewoman's challenges in establishing herself as an equal in a predominantly male workforce. Mothering Inside is a rare look at the power of love between mothers and their children inside the prison walls as they participate in the Family Preservation Project at Coffee Creek Correctional Facility.

The films will be followed by a discussion featuring film producer and PSU professor Roberta Hunte and friends.

Tuesday, Jan. 21 | 6 to 8 p.m.

Smith Memorial Student Union, Room 238 (Browsing Lounge)
