LSAMP

Louis Stokes Alliance for Minority Participation (LSAMP) is dedicated to enhancing the undergraduate experience for underrepresented students in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) fields of study. It provides activities, events, and research opportunities for students at Portland State University and Portland Community College

McNair Scholars Program

The Ronald E. McNair Scholars Program works with PSU undergraduates who wish to pursue PhDs. It introduces juniors and seniors who are first-generation and low-income, and/or members of under-represented groups to research and to effective strategies for getting into and graduating from PhD programs

PSU University Studies Program

The award-winning PSU University Studies (UNST) program is partnering with EXITO to create special health and research focused courses, including Freshman Inquiry, Sophomore Inquiry, Junior Cluster, and Senior Capstone Courses. Also, make sure to check out the innovative UNST peer mentoring program, which provides tuition support and training for undergraduates and graduate students selected through a competitive application process.

Portland State University Honors College

Urban Honors is the only urban-vocused honors college in the country, and accepts applications from transfer students and current PSU students, as well as new first year students. Students have opportunities for rigourous research, internships, small class sizes, and personalized academic support. It is open to all majors and 80% of students continue to graduate school

myIDP

myIDP was created by the American Association for the Advancement of Science and UCSF that allows students to create an Individual Development Plan for a career in science. There are excerciseds to help you examine your skills and interests; a list of 20 scientific career paths to find which might best fit your skills; a tool for setting and tracking your goals; and a wealth of articles and resources to guide you through the process of career exploration and development.
