Wim Wiewel at Bright Lights city design discussion series
Monday, January 11, 2010 - 6:00pm to Monday, January 11, 2010 - 7:30pm

WHAT: Since taking the helm at PSU in 2008, Portland State University President Wim Wiewel has begun reshaping and expanding PSU through a series of far-reaching community partnerships with business and government.

Wiewel will present his vision for PSU's future and reflect on his time in Portland at January's Bright Lights. This conversation comes at a pivotal moment. From business leaders like John Von Schlegel to recently retired University of Oregon president Dave Frohnmayer to Wiewel himself, theories for revamping the entire higher education system abound. At this month's Bright Lights, participants will hear how Oregon's fastest-growing university—one surrounded by enormous opportunities for the public/private synergies needed for reinvention—fits into Wiewel's vision for higher education in Portland.

The Bright Lights city design discussion series is presented by Portland Monthly magazine and the City Club of Portland with support from the Architecture Foundation of Oregon.

WHEN: Jan 11, 6 to 7:30 p.m.

WHERE: Jimmy Mak's, 221 NW 10th Ave
