Memories of the "past," in other words of period when Japan ruled Korea as a colony (1910-45), continue to color relations between the two major liberal democracies in East Asia. In this talk, Dr. Choi will introduce the difficulties of moving beyond painful memories but also suggest possibilities for coming to terms with the past.
