"Using Permaculture to Design Resilient Education Systems"

Michael Becker holds a bachelor's degree in Geography and a master's degree in Education, both from Portland State University. He is currently pursuing a PhD in Sustainability Science at Prescott College. Ever since Michael took a Permaculture Design course, he has pursued the use of garden design as a tool for developing a hands-on approach to education. The Oregon Middle School Association named Mr. Becker the 2008 Teacher of the Year for his efforts in integrated and applied science and math instruction. He currently directs the Food and Conservation Science (FACS) program at Hood River Middle School. Contact for details.
