Measuring the Impact of Engaged Research and Scholarship - Dr. Eric Jensen, University of Warwick
Thursday, April 4, 2013 - 2:00pm to Thursday, April 4, 2013 - 4:00pm

How can we measure the impact of research ideas online?

Why should we care if people are talking about a researcher's ideas on the web?

This presentation addresses these questions, drawing upon social scientific theory and a new methodological framework for online impact evaluation developed by the UK government research grant funded Public Engagement with Research Online (PERO) project led by Dr. Jensen. The interactive session will offer opportunities to learn about and explore the utility of a new model that is both practical and robust for analyzing the reach and significance of public engagement with research online.

Dr. Eric Jensen is Assistant Professor at the University of Warwick, UK, where he co-convenes the Master of Science programme in Science, Media and Public Policy.  He specializes in impact evaluation and research on the impacts of public engagement.  He is co-editor of the recently published book, 'Culture and Social Change: Transforming Society Through the Power of Ideas.'
