Bushra Azzouz, lead faculty member in the NW Film Center School of Film for 14 years, is the director of award-winning documentaries about Native American basketry and 9/11. She is working to build community media through the Community Media Project and other research activities.

In AND WOMAN WOVE IT IN A BASKET, Bushra explores the life and culture of Oregon's Klickitat Indians, and their use of basketweaving as a way of reclaiming native forms and heritage. Her evocative portrayal of basketweaver Nettie Jackson Kuneki captures native life as experienced by a contemporary Klickitat woman, presenting her daily activities through seasonal changes, the documentation of her craft and a visual history of Indian tales and legends.

Her video short, NO NEWS..., is a personal reflection on the events of 9/11 and cycles of violence.
