Former Chair, Near East and North Africa Program, U.S. Department of State Foreign Service Institute, and PSU Alumnus

Peter bechtold PSU's first graduate in Middle East Studies went on to earn a doctorate at Princeton University. Through his distinguished career with the U.S. Foreign Service, he has been in every U.S. embassy and consulate from Casablanca to Kazakhstan, and he has visited all Arab countries plus Turkey, Pakistan, Israel, and four Central Asian Republics. Dr. Bechtold has had more than 3000 State Department
employees as students, including 22 U.S. ambassadors and 4 commanders-in-chief. His area of academic specialization is the Sudan. Come here form this highly successful alum about career opportunities in U.S. government foreign affairs.
