THE HIVE DWELLERS: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3Pwb1vayrlQ
The streets of Olympia ring with that boot heels-on-cobblestone sound as the Hive Dwellers traverse the township east to west on way to their next musical adventure. Spawned in the late double-O decade by Calvin Johnson at the Dub Narcotic Studio, the Hive Dwellers is a band, a combo (as in combination) of disparate individuals who share a common love of rock’n’roll, library cards and railroad travel. When they emerge from the froth and frumble of their active bicycle-powered lives to make music, the Hive Dwellers emit a pelt of bright, shiny ((NOW)) with a love of pop music underground and it’s more vacuous mainstream distant cousins. Dance. Smile when you say that. Raw freedom dance.
THE SHIVAS: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_elvy1cD528
Here is a brief list of some of the things the Shivas—formed in 2006 by then-high schoolers Jared Wait-Molyneux and Eric Shanafelt, and currently joined by Rob Mannering and Kristin Leonard—have accomplished despite not yet being of legal drinking age: 1) They have performed over 300 shows throughout the West Coast. 2) They have released two albums with a third currently in the works. 3) They just completed a soon-to-be-viral music video. All these would be feats for any young band, but the Shivas are responsible for some of the most mesmerizing and interesting music in this town. With love for classic rock and roll, the Shivas' impressively polished tracks purposefully derail themselves from pop perfection with subtle, skewed nuances, making songs like "Gun in My Pocket" playful and thrilling.
BIOLOGICAL LOVERS: http://www.facebook.com/biologicallovers
Biological Lovers is the duo of Brian Smith and Hannah Sheets. Hannah enjoys pizza parties and her modest collection of plastic dinosaurs. Brian is also an Eagle Scout and loves to party. In December 2011, Hannah and Brian toured the west coast with three other musicians promoting Brian's most recent solo album playing fifteen shows in sixteen days. In August 2012, Biological Lovers will be embarking on a European tour before arriving at their new home in Vienna in mid September.
