Description: The Intel Northwest Science Expo is the Intel International Science and Engineering Fair affiliated state level
science fair for Oregon and Clark County Washington. The Intel NWSE encourages students to learn science, engineering and math by engaging in the activities that characterize these endeavors. The NWSE has been held for 5th through 12th grade students since 1984. The NWSE has grown from about 100 high school students in 1984 to 665 middle and high school students in 2008. Students compete in 17 categories encompassing all the scientific disciplines, engineering, computer science and mathematics.

Each affiliated fair sends at least two students, and up to three projects, expenses paid to compete at the ISEF, held this year in May
in Reno. These trips are the highest awards given. In addition, awards are given for the best projects in each of the seventeen ISEF
categories and dozens of organizations sponsor special awards.
