Earth Day and National Youth Service Day

Student Leaders for Service (SLS), Portland State University (PSU) students, faculty and staff will collaborate with community organizations across the Portland metropolitan area on Saturday, April 21st, 2007 to perform a variety of service projects in honor of Earth Day and National Youth Service Day.

Volunteers will be performing the following activities: assisting the PSU Community Garden with site cleanup and revitalization; grounds cleanup and creation of a permanent outdoor student artwork display at Woodmere Elementary; performing fountain restoration and courtyard beautification at King Elementary School; assisting Book for Kids with a book drive; providing help with revitalizing the Vernon K-12 School; and working with The Children's Community Clinic on building repairs and landscape work. Each project has a different set of goals and will offer exciting opportunities for students and other members of the community to engage in meaningful activities in the Portland metropolitan area.
