Directing Film/Directing TV: A Talk with Allison Anders
Friday, May 16, 2008 - 2:00pm
"Eventually it will all be one huge media format -- and I think the likelihood of careers in the future are more in new media and TV than in movies as we have traditionally thought of them."

--Allison Anders

Allison Anders has written and directed six feature films, including Gas Food Lodging, Mi Vida Loca, and Sugar Town. She has also directed episodes for eight television series, including Sex and the City, Cold Case, The L Word, and What about Brian?, and she has written and directed two TV movies, In the Echo and Things Behind the Sun. She has served as producer or executive producer on three projects and is currently executive producer for Unicorns, the story of a teenage girl who retreats into fantasy after a violent relationship.

Anders is this year's Director in Residence in PSU's Department of Theater Arts film degree program. She will speak about her career as a writer-director, and particularly the differences and similarities between working in film and television.
