Alan DeLaTorre & Mark Desbrow: Housing Opportunities for Life -- from Traditional Homes to Cooperatives

WHAT: Alan and Mark will give an overview of housing options for older adults, from single-family homes to assisted living options. They will discuss the "limited equity cooperative" model, an emerging trend for seniors 55 and older.  Oregon's first limited equity cooperative is being formed as a grass roots effort and is to be located on a streetcar line near Legacy Good Samaritan Hospital.
Alan DeLaTorre is a Ph.D. Candidate in the School of Urban Studies and Planning at PSU.  He works as a Project Manager on a global aging initiative in the Institute on Aging and is completing his dissertation research on the planning and development of sustainable, affordable housing for older adults in the Portland area. Mark Desbrow is the Founder and Managing Partner of Green Light Cooperative.  Most recently, Mark was a developer for Opus Northwest where he worked on the development of large scale mixed use projects including Portland's Ladd Tower.
