The Uncertain Beauty of Wind Turbines: Aesthetic Options for the Renewable Energy Landscape

Join the Geography and Anthropology departments for a guest lecture from David Hughes, a professor of anthropology at Rutgers University.

Hughes explores ways in which people exploit each other while exploiting nature, environments, and indeed, the entire biosphere. His current work examines renewable wind energy in southern Spain and the Strait of Gibraltar, an energy-rich blow zone. His research critically examines themes of property, aesthetics, biodiversity, and work in light of the transition towards clean energy.

Thursday, May 16 | 4 to 5 p.m.

Smith Memorial Student Union, Room 333

Free and open to the public
