Civil and Environmental Engineering MS Project Presentation: Sarah Knoles
Wednesday, November 28, 2012 - 12:00pm

The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering is pleased to announce Sarah Knoles’ MS Project Presentation: "Inelastic Response to Subduction Zone Earthquakes."

Date: Wednesday, November 28, 2012
Time: 12:00pm
Location: Engineering Building 202L (CEE Conference Room)
Adviser: Dr. Peter Dusicka

Subduction zone earthquakes tend to be higher in magnitude and longer in duration than the more typical crustal earthquakes. The duration effect, in particular, is not well understood or taken into consideration in current seismic code. Several numerical models were used to analyze the structural response to subduction zone earthquakes focusing on the development of a metric for quantifying the duration effect.
