M.A. English

Portland State University's M.A. in English program is designed for students who are prepared to undertake advanced work in the field. The program provides a range of courses in literatures in English, including British, American, and Anglophone literature; composition and rhetorical theory; cultural studies; and literary history, theory, and critical methods. Students in the program go on to work in humanities-related fields from higher education and K-12 teaching to arts education and public relations; still others others pursue the degree solely for their own interest and enrichment.

Find application requirements and instructions here.

Applications to the program are due by January 15 of each year for admission the following fall.  Review application requirements and learn about the applications process here.  If you are considering the program, read "Should I get an MA in English?"
