ESOL Success Center
The Intensive English Language Program (IELP) Learning Center (LC) is an ESOL Success Center for international students and scholars at PSU and around the world. Everyone is welcome!
We offer high quality English language services and foster a dynamic intercultural learning community. We provide individualized-directed ESOL learning opportunities for IELP levels PEP, 1-5, graduate preparation, and international scholars.
LEARNING CENTER TUTORING
We offer FREE English-language tutoring in the IELP Learning Center to all students who are taking IELP classes. Our tutors help students with grammar, writing, reading, pronunciation, listening in English, presentation skills, TOEFL (paper-based or iBT), and IELTS preparation.
The IELP Learning Center has over 30 computers that students can use to work on class assignments.
Students needing some extra space and privacy to get things done will find this room a good practical resource. Use the multipurpose room to study in groups, take practice TOEFL and IELTS tests, or videotape and watch yourself giving presentations. Reserve this room at the Learning Center reception desk.
Excellent Online Learning Tools

CONVERSATION PARTNER PROGRAM
The Intensive English Learning Program provides a variety of opportunities for students to practice and improve their English skills outside the classroom. Outside of Learning Center (LC) Tutoring, the LC also offers conversation practice which takes place in groups or one-on-one sessions for a more casual, friendly approach to English-speaking practice.
Come to the Student Library to study quietly, use our computers, borrow books to read for fun, or use our testing guides for the TOEFL and IELTS exams.
Meet Our LC Lab Assistants
Since all of our lab assistants are former IELP students who now take academic classes at PSU, current IELP students can learn a lot from them. They understand the ups and downs of progressing through the program, so they are very encouraging and approachable. Our IELP lab assistants will gladly book appointments with tutors for you, help you access IELP resources, and answer any questions you may have about the IELP Learning Center.
