PSU Grading Changes

Given the disruptions caused by Covid-19 starting in Spring 2020, many students have taken PSU courses with a Pass/No-Pass option on courses that would have otherwise been letter graded during this time. The ETM Admissions Committee will not penalize applicants that used Pass/No-Pass grading during this time in their admissions decisions.

For students wanting to take courses prior to admission to the ETM Department

  1. Fill out the Non-Degree Entry form (website). Please note, there is a small non-refundable application fee of $25, plus $2 for processing the credit card transaction. That will get you a PSU ID number (or reactivate your old one if you ever attended PSU) so that you may register for courses.
  2. With permission from either the instructor or the department chair to take a class or classes, fill out another form, called the Special Registration form: ( and submit it to the ETM office for approval.
  3. Prospective students can always attend the first class of a course they are considering, even without registration.

General University Guidelines

Admission to graduate study is granted on the basis of evidence of suitable preparation and the probability of success in the intended field of study. Failure to supply complete and accurate information will delay the admissions process and subject applicants to the University’s policies governing academic dishonesty.

Application Deadlines

Applications are accepted year-round, and admission to all ETM degree and certificate programs can begin at any time throughout the year.  However, the chart below indicates the dates by which applications will receive priority review.  Please note that an application should be completed by these deadlines, not just submitted.  (Completed means all transcripts, recommendation letters, etc. have been received by the department.)

Fall: September 1 August 1
Winter: January 1 December 1
Spring: March 1 February 1
