Technology Center and Student Study

GSE Technology Services manages both the Technology Center (FAB 270) and the Student Study (FAB 266).

Dr. Joyce Petrie Memorial Technology Center (FAB 270)

The Technology Center is an 18-seat PSU computer lab that is prioritized for use by GSE students. It features both Windows and Macintosh computers, basic video editing software, two ADA accessible Windows workstations, two scanners, and black and white or color lab printing using print quotas. We also house more specific technologies, including a SMART board, a 3D printer, and an Apple TV (coming soon). Our accessible workstations offer Kurzweil 3000, NVDA, Dragon Naturally Speaking, JAWS, and ZoomText. An active Odin account is required to log into any of our computers.

The Tech Center also provides a space for small classes to meet on occasion. Instructors may request a Tech Center reservation via email to gse-support@pdx.edu. Reservations must be confirmed by Technology Services staff and may be subject to availability.

When the Tech Center is open, there is often an attendant at the front desk, but some hours are self-service only. Should the Tech Center be closed, students are encouraged to visit the Broadway/IDSC Labs, which are open 24/7 and have color printing and additional specialized software available.

Student Study (FAB 266)

The Student Study is designed to serve as a quiet study space and is prioritized for GSE students. It houses several special reference collections relevant to the Graduate School of Education, including the Curriculum Collection, the Willard B. Spalding Reference Collection, a Diversity Collection, and the Eric Kimmel Collection of children's books. These collections are available to students for on-site use only. You can search our collections online.

The Student Study also contains a small selection of faculty reserve materials that are available to students for use on-site or for 48-hour loan. Please be advised that Technology Services staff are not allowed to photocopy copyrighted materials for faculty, staff or students.

Hours for the Student Study are the same as the Technology Center, and are posted outside the door. No food is allowed and silence your cell phones, please.
