Having lived in Germany during elementary school, I gained an early appreciation for the importance of intercultural experiences at a young age. This led to my first study abroad experience in Spain while earning my International Studies degree at the University of Oregon. After graduating, I taught English in Germany for a year before moving back to Portland to earn my Masters in Public Administration from Portland State University. During this time, I joined the Education Abroad team as their Graduate Assistant, but moved into a full-time role and have been here ever since.
My favorite thing about my job is working with faculty to build international programs. Seeing how they apply their academic expertise to give PSU students unique and life-changing experiences abroad are exceedingly rewarding. We have so many interesting departments on campus, each with its own challenges and opportunities, and my job allows me to work with each one to see how we can integrate an international experience into each academic field.
I'm the resident beer-geek of the Education Abroad office and enjoy exploring any new brewery or taphouse that opens up where I get the chance. I also love working in my garden and can be found seeking out sunshine whenever possible.
