Transportation Hub Planning in China

A transportation hub is a place where passengers are exchanged between vehicles or/and between transport modes. China has seen a surging growth in the railway system, including the national high-speed railway system, urban subway system, and among others. Railway transportation hubs receive lots of concerns, discussions, praises, as well as critiques from the society. Nevertheless, several general rules in transportation hub planning and design have been formed.

Zhong Chen, our visiting scholar, will talk about his experiences working on three kinds of hubs: airport (combined with high-speed railway), railway station, and urban subway station. Both successful and not-so-successful cases will be presented.
