Education Abroad Scholarship Resources

In addition to being able to apply PSU financial aid to approved study abroad programs, PSU students are excellent candidates for study abroad related scholarships. Did you know that PSU awarded over $200,000 in scholarship funds to PSU students over the last 5 years? In addition, since 2009, PSU students received more than $165,000 from the Benjamin A. Gilman Scholarship Program!

There are three types of scholarships for studying abroad:
1. PSU scholarships (often targeted to a country, region, or field of study, competing with PSU students only for awards)
2. Program provider scholarships (limited to the specific program to which you are applying, ranging from $500- $10,000, depending on the provider, competing with PSU and non-PSU students for awards)

3. National and international foundations and organization scholarships and grants (can be applied to most programs or terms abroad, may be targeted, requirements vary, competing with PSU and non-PSU students for awards)

The earlier you get started, the better your chances are of receiving an award. Many scholarships are awarded on a rolling basis, so pay close attention to the deadlines!  You may be the next PSU student to secure scholarship funding for your upcoming international experience!

Just as many students find myriad sources to fund their PSU education, so are there many ways to fund your education abroad experience (in addition to scholarships and financial aid).
