Many join welcoming effort

More than 170 volunteers answered questions from new students during Welcome Week last Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday. Concerns ranging from class locations to drop/add dates were asked at five tables throughout campus. Faculty, staff, and student volunteers were armed with reference materials and walkie-talkies for questions that required expert assistance. Those who missed out can volunteer the first three days of winter term.

Welcome Week organizer Brandy Coleman, dean of students, kept track of the questions. She says the most amusing came from a student who said he saw another student with a white piece of paper, and even though he did not know what was on it, he was sure he needed one. The volunteers tried their best, but the paper remained a mystery.

It was a Party in the Park

Your opinion about the library counts

Letting the PSU Library know what you think of its services could win you a prize. On Oct. 27 the Library is sending staff, faculty, and students an e-mail link to a 10-minute online, LibQUAL+TM survey. Those who complete the survey could win an iPod, 30 TriMet passes, or a gift certificate for gas, coffee, or the PSU Bookstore.

The survey consists of 27 questions related to three areas: attitudes and feelings about library service, access to resources and information, and the library as a place. Survey findings will help the library to concentrate its efforts at improving resources, services, and facilities.
