Budget forums planned for second week of April

PSU vice presidents have worked with the Council of Academic Deans and other administrators to build a budget for 2007-08 that enhances revenues instead of simply cutting the budget. The proposed budget will be discussed at two open forums Monday, April 9, and Wednesday, April 11, from 1 to 2 pm. in 238 Smith Union. For more information, visit

University to lease building

The State Board of Higher Education recently approved the lease of a two-story office building for temporary classroom use. The building, located at 1433 SW Sixth Avenue, will accommodate 8 to 10 classrooms over the next five years as campus construction displaces existing classrooms. read more >

Davis named offensive coordinator

A legend will return to the Park Blocks for the 2007 football season. Darrel "Mouse" Davis has been named the Vikings' offensive coordinator. Davis, a former Viking head coach from 1975 to 1980, will bring his unique brand of offensive football back to the place were he made it famous. Davis joins new head coach Jerry Glanville after working with Glanville at Hawaii the past two seasons. read more >

Faculty Senate nominations sought for next year

Certified faculty should expect two mailings in their campus boxes in the coming weeks, the Faculty Committee Service Preference Survey, and the Decline to Serve form. The former is provided for the Committee on Committees and the university administration to facilitate committee nominations for the coming year. The latter is used to assist in determining those individuals not available to serve on Faculty Senate, the Advisory Committee, and the Interinstitutional Faculty Senate for the coming year due to leaves, retirements, resignations, etc. read more >

Grantwriting book available at discount

The PSU Continuing Education Press recently published Grantwriting Beyond the Basics Series, Successful Program Evaluation, by Michael K. Wells. This is the third of five books in its grantwriting series and is available to staff and faculty at a 10 percent discount. Book 4 in the series, The Other Side of the Fence, will look at the grants from the perspective of public and private funders and is due out in fall 2008. For more information, visit
