This conference will reappraise key questions concerning shifts over the last two decades within the fields of of art and archaeology of the Silk Road, featuring presentations from leading international scholars. Themes such as hybridity, exoticism, regionalism, and diplomacy in art will be explored in addition to discussing globalization and looking at both land and maritime Silk Road routes in relation to paintings sculpture, petroglyphs, architecture, and textile of Asia, Central Europa, and the Mediterranean during the 2nd century BCE through the 14th century.
