Changemaker Stories: Ahmed Abidine
Changemaker Stories: Ahmed Abidine

Social entrepreneur Ahmed Abidine grew up in Morocco, where he learned the art of designing handcrafted leather goods from his grandfather at a young age. Now a graduate student at Portland State University, Ahmed founded elkarti Morocco, an ethical fashion line of unique handcrafted leather accessories that invests in education and business training to empower its Moroccan artisans.

Portland State University is part of the Ashoka U Changemaker Campus consortium, a select group of institutions of higher education that demonstrate commitment and cutting edge approaches to galvanizing solutions to major human and environmental challenges. Ashoka believes in an "Everyone a Changemaker" world. So does Portland State.

Ahmed is an alumnus of PSU's Social Innovation Incubator, a program of Impact Entrepreneurs, and a graduate student of urban planning.
