Brenda Sulick, PhD - Policy Outreach Director, AARP Public Policy Institute

Brenda Sulick, PhD, is the Policy Outreach Director at the AARP Public Policy Institute (PPI), where she manages public outreach and communications. She represents PPI before external audiences, promoting AARP programs and policy solutions that improve the lives of older Americans. Before coming to AARP, Dr. Sulick was employed at the National Committee to Preserve Social Security and Medicare as a Senior Policy Advisor and Director of Eleanor’s Hope. In this capacity, she led federal outreach and advocacy efforts on Medicare, Medicaid, and long-term services and supports. Her advocacy efforts resulted in securing $12 million in grants from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services to fund ombudsman programs for state dual eligible demonstrations. She also built relationships with members of Congress and their staff, Administration officials, and national thought leaders to promote National Committee priorities.

Previously, Dr. Sulick held positions as the Vice-President of Congressional Affairs and Advocacy at the National Program of All-inclusive Care for the Elderly (PACE) Association and Director of Health Policy at the Alzheimer’s Association in Washington, D.C. In 2006-2007, Dr. Sulick was the national recipient of the John Heinz Senate Fellowship in Aging, and worked for former U.S. Senator Blanche Lincoln, a member of the Finance Committee and Senate Special Committee on Aging on aging-related policies and legislation.

She has a Ph.D. from Portland State University in Public Administration and Policy, M.A. from George Washington University in Public Policy, and B.A. from York College in Political Science and Public Administration.
