The Underserved in Urban Areas and What Delivers for Them

At the beginning of the new millennium, world leaders gathered at the United Nations to shape a broad vision to fight poverty in its many dimensions. That vision, which was translated into eight Millennium Development Goals (MDGs), has remained the overarching development framework for the world between 2000 and 2015.

In this upcoming seminar, we will follow a video lecture presentation by David Satterthwaite, who works as a senior fellow at IIED (International Institute for Environment and Development). He was part of the IPCC team honored with the Nobel Peace Prize in 2007. In this lecture, he gives a critical review of statistics in the MDG final report and presented planning innovations during the 15 years in the various parts of the developing world. Please join us in finding out, what can people do when the government is weak!
