Sharing Science Communications Workshop

The American Geophysical Union's renownd Sharing Science Team will be on campus to conduct a full-day science communications workshop. This interactive workshop will cover topics including:

  • The value of communication and outreach
  • Identifying your audience
  • Reducing/eliminating jargon
  • Crafting an elevator pitch
  • The value, and mechanics, of storytelling
  • Drafting your message
  • Practice through role-playing

This full-day workshop will take place on January 24, 2020, between 8:30 am and 4:30 pm. Seats are for those who can attend the full day. Seating for the workshop is limited to 40 participants. Seats are reserved on a first-come-first-served basis. Research & Graduate Studies covers the cost of attendance and will provide breakfast and lunch on the day of the workshop.

The goal of the workshop is to provide researchers with skills and confidence in science communication and provide them with the first steps on a long journey of science communication and outreach.
