Dr. Melanie Gall
Dr. Gall is a hazards geographer and certified floodplain manager (CFM) with expertise in the quantification of social vulnerability, hazard mitigation planning, geospatial analysis, and impact assessments. She combines geospatial technologies with social science methods to answer pertinent questions in hazards geography and emergency management. As frequently as possible, Dr. Gall conducts field work in pre- and post-disaster environments.
Dr. Gall holds a B.S. in Geography from Karl-Ruprechts University (Heidelberg, Germany); a M.S. in Geography & Geoinformatics from Paris-Lodron University (Salzburg, Austria); and a Ph.D. in Geography from the University of South Carolina. She currently serves on the faculty at Louisiana State University in the Department of Geography & Anthropology.
