Distance Learning

This course will be taught at one one PSU’s Distance Learning Center rooms so mid-career energy professionals and others who do not live in the Portland metro area can still participate in this course through our Noncredit Professional Development Option.  It may also be possible for graduate students from other institutions to take the course under the Graduate Credit Option. This assumes they can enroll for this course through PSU and transfer the credits to (or receive credit for this course from) their home home institution.

We are able to offer three Distance Learning options if there is sufficient interest. They are:

Live Stream

Participants may view the class live but will not be able to interact with the faculty and guest speakers in real time. However, they can use Google Chat or similar tool to send their questions or comments to a student assistant  The student assistant can pass on the question or comment to the speaker at a convenient point in the discussion.

Media Archive

Each class and presentation will be captured, stored, and made available for steaming.  All registered students will receive a links on Friday to the class from the previous evening plus all previous class sessions.  Students who don't live in the Portland metro area can stream the class at a time that is most convenient for them. Any student who is unable to attend a class session due to work responsibilities or other reasons will be able to use the Media Archive to "catch up" on missed sessions.  The Media Archive will also be helpful for those students who might might want to review a topic they may not have understood during the original class session.

Video Conference

Participants may view the class presentations and interact with the faculty and guest speakers in real time. This option may be available for groups of students from a single agency or school. Please contact us for details.

If you are interested in participating in this course entirely through the Video Conference or Live Stream options, please contact Dan Trifone ( or Jeff Hammarlund ( by March 31. Video conferencing and/or live streaming will only be offered if we receive sufficient interest.
