About the Symposium

The 2017 Center for Public Service “Conciliatory Practices and Environmental Governance” Symposium was held from 9 AM to 4:30 PM on May 13th, 2017. The symposium honored Dr. Craig W. Shinn and reflected his intellectual interests. You were invited to participate and present in what was a collegial atmosphere of spirited debate. Colleagues, current and former doctoral students, professional masters students, and practitioners gathered in seminar like sessions where topical discussions were led by a paper, a panel or a key discussion leader. You, your ideas and interests, were key to the content. Rapporteurs gathered intellectual threads throughout the day and reported what they wove in the closing session. Assuming the content warrants it, the goal is to follow up with a writing project producing an edited volume. The symposium was provided at a minimal cost to participants. It included a plenary opening session, thematic break-out sessions during the day, and a plenary closing session. Light breakfast and lunch included. Email Dr. Shinn directly for questions of content (shinnc@pdx.edu).
