2019 Confucius Institute Chinese Skills & Talents Contests

An annual competition of Chinese language, arts, and talents at CIPSU, sponsored by the Hanban/Confucius Institute Headquarters in China. This year we have off-site and on-site two sessions, off-site session contains: Photography and short film, Calligraphy with Writing Brush , Calligraphy with Pen or Pencil, Chinese Painting or Drawing; on-site session contains:   Speech & Talent Contest, Mandarin Bee.  
Participant need register via HERE, registration deadline is: March 29 by 5:00 p.m.

2019 Chinese New Year Cultural Fair
Confucius institute at PSU invites the PSU and community to the 2019 Chinese New Year Cultural Fair. A fun, family friendly day filled with, food, demonstrations,  Live stage Chinese cultural performance, Lion dancing, Children activities, instrumental music, promises to be a spectacular evening.

More Than Beautiful: Chinese Music Concert
CIPSU is ready to have another cultural event at the International School of Beaverton at noon on December 6th! Come enjoy the More Than Beautiful: Chinese Music Concert! We are so privileged that ISB National Chinese Honor Society reached out to CIPSU musicians for this event, with the support of student volunteers. Our wonderful musicians will bring students to an exceptional musical experience. After the concert, there will be a Q&A session in the afternoon with students from Chinese Second Language Class. This event aims to give ISB students an opportunity to better understand Chinese music and culture.

China: Religion and the Rise of a New Superpower
Ian Johnson is a Pulitzer Prize-winning writer on society, religion, and history.His newest book, The Souls of China: The Return of Religion After Mao, describes China’s religious revival and its implications for politics and society. His other books are on civil society and grassroots protest in China (Wild Grass, 2004) and Islamism and the Cold War in Europe (A Mosque in Munich, 2010). He has also contributed chapters to: My First Trip to China (2011), Chinese Characters (2012), and the Oxford Illustrated History of Modern China (2016).

A Glimpse of China: Chinese Dance and Music
-Presented by Xiamen University Art Troupe
The Art Troupe of Xiamen University will come to Portland at 24th September  2018. The show was co-sponsored by Portland State University Confucius Institute and Confucius Institute Headquarters. The performance will highlight elements of traditional Chinese culture, especially traditional music instruments, folk songs and dances. The show aims to dazzle audiences with a unique cross-cultural performance.
