Yu Wang is Associate Professor of English with the School of Foreign Languages (SFL) at Soochow University. Her research interests include second language acquisition, second language writing, and CDST perspective to second language research. She has a BS in English for Specific Purposes from Shanghai Jiao Tong University and an MA and PhD in Applied Linguistics from Nanjing University.
Since 1996 she has been with Soochow University teaching courses at undergraduate and postgraduate levels (e.g. English Pronunciation, Advanced English, E-C/C-E Translation, Academic Writing, An Introduction to Applied Linguistics, and Research Methods in Applied Linguistics). In her role as Deputy Director of the English Department (2009–2010) and Assistant Dean of SFL (2010–2018), she sought to optimize curriculum design for English Education and Master of Translation and Interpreting programs and create study abroad and international internship opportunities for her students. She finds helping her students develop into full-grown individuals the most rewarding part of her career.
