Kelliann Amico Kelliann Amico
Instructor. Kelliann Amico has been on the agency side of PR for more than 30 years. After having worked for some of the most respected public relations and public affairs firms in the Pacific Northwest, she launched Amico Public Relations in 1997. As a “generalist” she’s represented a healthy cross-section of interests, including professional sports, an airline, Superior Court judges, restaurants, and coffee. Her current clients are in the professional service, customer service, built environment, nonprofit, and health care sectors. Career highlights include being a press lead and traveling internationally for the Clinton White House from 1997-2000, and managing press for the Dalai Lama Environmental Summit of May 2013.

Instructor. Roel Uleners is a Design Partner who loves playing at the intersection of design, strategy, and people. He attended the Royal Academy of Arts, and received his MFA and Masters-after-Masters in Visual Communication at Sint-Lucas School of Arts & Design. Most recently, he was Vice President of Strategic Design at Chehadé & Company, a strategy and engagement consultancy, working toward a trusted digital economy and society.

Todd Greco Todd Greco
Instructor. Todd is the Interaction Design Director at Ziba, a design and innovation consultancy based in Portland, Oregon. Bridging the traditional gap between developer and designer, he leads cross-disciplinary teams in the creation of software and physical interfaces for global clients including FedEx, Intel, Samsung, Adidas, and Dreamworks. With more than 24 years of experience, Todd is well-versed in design research and innovation; prior to joining Ziba, he worked with Adobe to develop Creative Suite 1-4, and helped design and implement the iShares investment service for Barclays. He has also run his own design studio, written for Wired and Fast Company, and taught digital design at Portland State University for nearly 10 years.

Serilda Summers-McGee, MBA, MEd, is the City of Portland Chief Human Resources Officer and the owner of Workplace Change, LLC, a company that exists to help organizations assess their workplace culture, creatively resolve identified workplace challenges, recruit under-represented executives and staff, and retain high-quality employees in an inclusive, positive, and high-functioning work environment.

Heather Laird Spain Heather Laird Spain
Instructor. Heather Laird Spain is a leadership and communications strategist and coach who has built her career developing people and programs, as well as helping organizations tell their stories. She brings over a dozen years of experience leading communications and marketing programs, both in the nonprofit sector and at Google. As a trainer and coach she has designed and delivered trainings for youth mentoring organizations across the country, served as a communication coach at Stanford University School of Business, and currently is an instructor at Portland State University’s School of Business. She has a BA in Anthropology and an MA in Education, both from Stanford University, and has completed coaching training at The Coaches Training Institute (CTI). She loves working with adult learners, fervently believes we can make work better, and is endlessly curious about all things people-related.

Instructor. Darin Matthews possesses nearly 25 years of contracting experience, including serving as the director of procurement for the University of California, Santa Cruz and the chief procurement officer for Metro. He has taught for Portland State University, Florida Atlantic University, and the Institute for Public Procurement. Darin holds a BS in Business and a Master of Acquisition Management.

Theresa Bauccio-Teschlog Theresa Bauccio-Teschlog
Instructor. Theresa is the Purchasing Manager for the City of Everett, Washington. She has over 21 years of supply chain management experience, of which over 18 years have been spent in public procurement. She enjoys conducting Requests for Proposals for service contracts and administering construction projects from cradle to grave. Theresa has participated in the Specifications, Protests, and Construction Contracting Delivery Methods Global Best Practice Task Force teams. She is a past Washington State Chapter of NIGP Membership Secretary and is the current Education and Research Chair. Theresa is a graduate of Seattle University where she earned her Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration with a dual concentration in both Operations Management and Marketing. She also holds the designation of Certified Professional Public Buyer, as well as a Certificate in Construction Contracting from Portland State University.

Instructor. Kate Vance is a Project Delivery Program Manager at Multnomah County where her team manages a variety of project types in existing county buildings. Previously, Kate spent 11 years at Portland State University managing and supervising complex multi-million dollar capital projects to meet the University’s goals for future growth and collaborative partnerships. Kate’s professional commitments include collaborative leadership, client relationships, teamwork, and safety.

Instructor. Elena Einstein is president of the Einstein Group and contracts site leader for Harris Corporation. She previously served as senior contracts manager and chief of staff for The Boeing Company. Elena has experience in leadership, strategy, diversity and inclusion, and employee development. Elena holds an MS from the University of La Verne and a Doctorate in Organizational Leadership from Pepperdine University.

Instructor. Samuel Ashby is the director of performance excellence for Legacy Health Systems. Previously, he worked as managing principal of Speed of Thought Consulting and in process improvement leadership roles for Nike, Converse, GE Capital, Medtronic, and Toyota. Samuel holds a BA from Eastern Kentucky University. He is a Change Acceleration Process Coach and a certified Lean Six Sigma Black Belt.

Bill teaches for the DBIA and serves as an adjunct professor for the University of Washington Department of Construction Management. Instructor. Maria Grzanka is a principal consultant with Lean Portland and Quantum Leaders. She has 20 years’ experience in process improvement and operations leadership, including working for XPO Logistics, Vestas, Con-way Freight, and Tektronix. She earned a BA in Business Administration with a concentration in Integrated Supply Chain Management. Maria earned her Black Belt in Lean Sigma and has led dozens of kaizens since.

Kjell van Zoen Kjell van Zoen
Instructor. Kjell van Zoen is a strategic energy management and Lean operations coach for Energy 350, Inc., where he helps clients realize energy efficiency using continuous improvement practices. Kjell has worked for Plywerk, PhotosbyKim, and the Parati Company. He has delivered over 100 workshops focused on Lean whole systems thinking. Kjell studied business, philosophy and economics at University College London and Leiden University.

Matthew Horvat Matthew Horvat
Instructor. Matthew Horvat is the founder of Lean Portland, and is the Expansion/Process Improvement Program Manager at Vancouver Clinic. He is a lifelong learner of customer-focused production system design in both projects and operations. His message is about the attitude of respect and the responsibility we have for one another, as well as the discipline of applying the scientific method to everyday concerns. He was academically trained in global management and industrial engineering, and holds numerous professional licenses, degrees, and certificates from state- and trade-sponsored associations.

Instructor. David Hall is an educator and organizational consultant who appreciates the opportunity to help others create better ways to live and work together. In addition to serving as an adjunct faculty member at Portland State University, David has worked as a consultant and sustainability advisor. Instructor. Brion Hurley is a Lean Six Sigma Master Black Belt at Business Performance Improvement. Prior to BPI, he spent 18 years at Rockwell Collins as a Lean Six Sigma consultant. Brion has a BS in Statistics, a certificate in Sustainability, and an MS in Quality Management from the University of Iowa. He volunteers with Lean Portland as the community consultant lead, managing and leading nonprofit improvement projects.

Lori Emerick, principal of the Aspen Group, brings more than 20 years of organizational and leadership development expertise to her teaching work, including experience at Intel, Nike, and Kaiser Permanente. Instructor. Janene Grace has worked at a large craft brewery and cidery and as a field investigator for the Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau. She established Grace Regulatory Consultants to assist breweries, wineries, cideries and other alcohol producers with regulatory services. Janene earned a BS in Special Education and Teaching from Illinois State University and an MA in Women’s Studies from the University of Illinois.

Steve Brook founded Atainium, Inc., and is a natural facilitator who works to improve organization’s capabilities by integrating people, processes, and technology to deliver tangible results. Ed Warnock Ed Warnock
Instructor. Ed Warnock, MA, is a senior manager at the consulting firm Genesis Group. He has more than 20 years of experience in consulting and business management. His expertise includes operations strategy, large-scale re-engineering, IT compliance and adoption planning, performance management, leadership training, and all aspects of transition management. He is a past president of the ASTD-Cascadia Chapter and teaches in the Oregon Executive MBA program. Mr. Warnock holds a BS in aerospace engineering and received his master’s degree in whole systems design/organizational systems renewal from Antioch University in Seattle, Washington.

Instructor. Employment attorney Kyle Abraham works with organizations to develop effective workplace policies and provide proactive counsel. A partner with Barran Liebman, Kyle has successfully represented clients before U.S. circuit and district courts, state courts, and state and federal agencies. Kyle earned a BA in Economics and Philosophy from the College of Wooster, an MBA and JD from Willamette University, and PHR and SHRM-CP certifications.

Mike has spent over a decade in search engine optimization and web analytics, with experience ranging from Fortune 500 companies to small startups. Anne Ely Kenlon Anne Ely Kenlon
Instructor. Anne Ely Kenlon is a senior-level writer and communications manager with 35 years of experience across a broad variety of business disciplines. As a seasoned strategist and counsel to senior leaders at three Fortune 500 companies, she has written executive speeches, video scripts, opinion columns, and media pitches. Her main focus has been on employee communications and translating complex technical and financial information into understandable terms. She recently relocated to Portland from Corning, N.Y., where she managed the employee global news program for Corning Incorporated and maintained a reader satisfaction rate of more than 95%. She holds bachelor's degrees in English and journalism from Clarke University in Dubuque, Iowa and a master's degree in Management and Administrative Science from the University of Texas - Dallas.

Tammi earned a BS in Biblical Education from Multnomah University and an MA in Systems Design/Organizational Development from Antioch University. Instructor. Christopher Dennis’ work in product and process development, problem-solving, and project management spans utilities, music publishing, food manufacturing, and electronics industries. His perspective on innovation was developed during six years on staff at Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Chris earned an MS in Physics from the University of Rochester and an MSEE from Northeastern University.

Instructor. Jordan has over a decade of experience in managing client relationships and leading strategy for regional, national and global brands across multiple industries. Formerly with Wieden+Kennedy, he has crafted strategy for Target, EA Sports, Brooks Sports, Columbia Sportswear, CLIF Bar, Dick's Sporting Goods, and Peet's Coffee, among many others. He currently oversees all of North’s strategic output as it relates to business goals and strategies, audience analysis, brand positioning, and channel strategies.

Instructor. Mitch Menendez serves as the Senior Director, Global Apparel Leader for Men’s Athletic Training at Nike. His team works to strategize, line plan, design, and commercialize, and bring to market a global apparel line. Mitch’s experience at Nike has spanned sales, retail merchandising, operations, and product creation. He holds a BS in Business and Marketing from the University of Florida.

Instructor. Jennifer Nolfi serves as the Director of PSU’s Athletic and Outdoor and Retail Leadership programs. Previously, Jennifer served as the Director for Partnership Development at Looptworks and worked for the Portland Development Commission. Instructor. Nate Young has served as the marketing coordinator for Brightworks, a small environmental consulting agency, and as the sustainability manager for Hopworks, a regional brewpub in Portland, Oregon. Nate also works as an elementary teacher and as a consultant for a variety of craft breweries. He holds a BS in Education from Northern Arizona University and an MBA from Portland State University.

Instructor. Madeleine (Mellie) Pullman is an associate professor of operations management in the PSU School of Business. She earned her PhD at the University of Utah in 1997. She has previously taught in the Graduate and Executive programs at Cornell University, London Business School, Southern Methodist University, CSU, CU, and University of Utah. Prior to academia, Mellie worked at Pyramid Brewing Co. (Kalama, WA), was the brewmaster at Hops Brewpub (Phoenix, AZ) and brewmaster/co-owner of Wasatch Brewery (Park City, UT).

Instructor. Albrecht Enders serves as principal of endersgroup. He possesses 25 years' experience in innovation leadership, including work at Siemens and A-dec. Today, Albrecht teaches and consults with organizations that seek to innovate and grow their market share. Albrecht teaches at Portland State University and the University for Economics and the Environment. He has an MS in Mechanical Engineering from Fachhochschule Darmstadt.

Instructor. Dave Garten teaches business strategy, acquisitions, and negotiation for Portland State University. He has extensive experience in strategy development, management, marketing, product development, and finance. Dave is the former CEO and board chair for SeQuential. She received her MBA from Stanford Business School and is a Certified Financial Planner (CFP®). Gudrun has worked with a variety of universities to design, develop and deliver financial curriculum for many nationally-recognized universities including Portland State University, University of Oregon, OHSU, University of California-San Diego, UC Santa Cruz, Southern Methodist University, and San Diego State University.

Rick Howell Rick Howell
Instructor. Rick Howell is the principal of Howell Management Consulting, specializing in strategic planning and human resources. He has performed most human resource specialties for companies such as New Seasons Market, Longview Fibre and Packaging, Knowledge Learning Corporation, and Red Lion Hotels. Rick earned his BA and MBA from Washington State University. He holds SPHR, GPHR, CPC and SHRM-SCP credentials.

Instructor. Allison Brown has worked in senior roles in human resources, organizational development, and learning and development, including positions with Rite Aid, Columbia Sportswear, KOIN-TV, and DentaQuest. She specializes in change management, strategic human resources, coaching, leadership, and employee development. Allison earned her MPA from Portland State University and has current certifications through Prosci, HRCI, SHRM, and ATD.

Instructor. Sarah Stebbins has over 20 years of experience that includes developing and delivering professional training programs, and organizational consulting. Her clients include Fortune 500 companies, the federal government, universities, and diverse nonprofit organizations. Sarah has a PhD in Organizational Development from Oregon State University. She also holds certifications in Prosci Change Management and Fierce Conversations.

Kent Lewis Kent Lewis
Instructor. Kent Lewis founded Anvil Media, Inc., a digital marketing agency specializing in search engine and social media marketing for Fortune 2000 companies. He also co-founded career community pdxMindShare; eROI; and SEMpdx, a Portland-area SEM professional trade association. Kent holds a BA in Business Administration with a concentration in marketing from Western Washington University.

Instructor. Paul Spindel specializes in management and leadership development. He has more than 18 years of human resources experience with Nike and Marriott International. Paul is a certified facilitator of the Myers-Briggs assessment and the Thomas-Kilmann Conflict Mode Instrument. He holds a BS in Communications from James Madison University and an MA in Organizational Behavior from the University of Maryland.

Judy has worked with organizations of all sizes across many industries, giving her a broad perspective to bring to the classroom. Ron Sarazin, president of Olympic Performance, Inc., specializes in project management, business analysis, visual management, customer service, and strategic planning training and consulting. He has worked for PACCAR, Portland General Electric, and Mutual Health Systems. Ron earned a BS in Industrial Engineering at Oregon State University and completed specialized training at the University of Idaho and Stanford University.
