CO-OP Students Working in Lab

Eligibility: PSU CO-OP is a competitive-entry program that may be completed part-time concurrently with a minimum of 9 quarter credits of coursework, or on a full-time basis. Eligibility requirements vary by department and major. 

Eligibility Requirements by College

The School of Business: Majors must have a 2.5 GPA in Business and a cumulative PSU GPA of 2.5. In addition, they must meet the subject requirements listed below.

  • Accounting - Enrollment in, or completion of ACTG 381
  • Finance - Enrollment in, or completion of BA 303
  • Management and Leadership - Enrollment in, or completion of BA 302
  • Supply and Logistics - Enrollment in, or completion of BA 339
  • Marketing - Enrollment in, or completion of BA 311
  • Advertising Management -  Enrollment in, or completion of MKTG 340
  • Human Resource Management - Enrollment in, or completion of MGMT 351

College of Liberal Arts and Sciences: Requirements for CLAS vary by major, see specifics below.

  • Geography- Participants must have a cumulative PSU GPA of over 3.0 and have completed GEOG 380 and 488. It is desirable that participants have completed GEOG 496 (or STATS 243/244) and have completed, or are currently enrolled in GEOG 492.
  • Math and Statistics - Participants must have a 2.5 GPA in Mathematics and a cumulative PSU GPA of 2.5. In addition, they must have completed or be currently enrolled in upper division (300 or 400 level) Math courses.
  • English - Participants must have a cumulative PSU GPA of 3. In addition, they must have completed ENG 300 or WR 301 with a grade of B or higher.
  • Environmental Science, (Science Track ) - Participants must have a cumulative PSU GPA of 2.5 and have completed ESM 320 & 323, ESM 321 & 324, ESM 335, and WR 327 
  • Environmental Science, (Management Track ) - Participants must have a cumulative PSU GPA of 2.5 and have completed ESM 221 (or equivalent), ESM 333 & 334, ESM 335, and WR 327
  • Environmental Studies - Participants must have a cumulative PSU GPA of 2.5 and have completed Geog 210, ESM 221 (or equivalent), Geog 230, ESM 330, ESM 333/4, and ESM 335.  
  • Creative Writing - Participants must have a 3.0 GPA and having earned a B or higher in 8 credits of upper-division (300/400 level) English or Writing coursework from PSU. 
  • Communications - Participants must have a cumulative PSU GPA of 2.5 and have completed 8 credits of COMM courses, with a C or better in COMM 300.
  • Sociology - Participants must have a cumulative PSU GPA of 2.5 and have completed 8 credits of SOC courses, with a B or better in SOC 396. Desirable: completion of or concurrent enrollment in SOC 397/397 
  • Philosophy- 3.0 PSU GPA, 8 cr. of Philosophy completed with a B or higher
  • Psychology - 2.5 PSU GPA,  Stats 243, 244, PSY 321, 8 cr. (total) of PSY 3xx-4xx (complete), Junior standing  

College of Engineering & Computer Science:  By the start of the PSU CO-OP, participants must be admitted upper division students in the Maseeh College of Engineering & Computer Science, have a 2.5 or better GPA and have completed classes indicated below.

  • Electrical & Computer Engineering - ECE 371, 321 or 331.
  • Mechanical & Materials Engineering - ME313 Course plan: ME 313, ME 314, ME 350 and ME 351. ME320 Course Plan: ME 320, ME 321, ME 322 and ME 350.
  • Computer Science - CS300, CS305, CS320, CS350 and CS333.
  • Civil & Environmental Engineering - Civil: CE 315,  CE 351, CE 324, CE 321, and CE 362.
  • Engineering & Technology Management - Be enrolled in the ETM Masters program.
