The Library Media Endorsement Program prepares teachers to be competent library media specialists who are challenged with providing a wide spectrum of services and resources within the PreK-12 school environment.

Today’s librarian is a human search engine who works collaboratively within the school community to support literacy, communication, information technology and lifelong learning.

Students in the Library Media Program become

  • Leaders—influence the principal, teachers, and school towards a “best practice” vision of a dynamic library program
  • Instructional Partners—work with teachers to develop instructional activities using technology and information resources to incorporate skills into the classroom curriculum
  • Information Specialists—provide access and assistance in finding and using information
  • Program Administrators—collaborate with the learning community to define the policies of the library media program and to guide all the activities related to it
    • Library Media courses are aligned with Oregon Teacher Standards and Practices Commission and American Association of School Librarians standards.
    • Classes are either fully online or hybrid; accommodations can be made for those who live at a distance from PSU
    • 27-credit program which includes coursework and two 60 hour practica
